Mijn ervaring (als docente NT2) met Cambiumned is minder goed. Het is een site die uitgaat van een flinke woordenschat en vragen stelt die m.i. niet relevant zijn voor een tweedetaalverwerver (moet iemand weten wat het verschil is tussen het werkwoordelijk en het naamwoordelijk gezegde om een taal te spreken? Ik denk het niet.). Veel betere taalsites zijn http://www.nt2taalmenu.nl, (tot A2/B1), http://www.margoo.be (Vlaams, dus af en toe een voor Nederlanders vreemd woord en helaas slechts gedeeltelijk gratis, maar wel goed, tot ongeveer B1) en http://www.taalklas.nl (eigenlijk gericht op analfabeten, maar ideaal voor het aanleren van de woordenschat).

Goede tips denk ik (ik kan het niet helemaal beoordelen als native speaker). Een van mijn leraren op de middelbare school is enthousiast een website over het vak Nederlands gaan onderhouden, als je al een basisvaardigheid Nederlands hebt is het misschien een goede resource:

That’s a powerful vacuum cleaner.

I was discussing on my blog about a local commuter rail’s marketing. They tend to post vague messages that don’t convey the benefits of the service, but they express the benefits to their customers. They should be telling the people who drive why they should switch to riding the train.

Being asked to photograph for “personal use” is common. The Chicago Transit Authority has a mostly clear policy:
“The general public is permitted to use hand-held cameras to take photographs, capture digital images, and videotape within public areas of CTA stations and transit vehicles for personal, non-commercial use.

Large cameras, photo or video equipment, or ancillary equipment such as lighting, tripods, cables, etc. are prohibited (except in instances where commercial and professional photographers enter into contractual agreements with CTA).

All photographers and videographers are prohibited from entering, photographing, or videotaping non-public areas of the CTA’s transit system.

All photographers and videographers are prohibited from impeding customer traffic flow, obstructing transit operations, interfering with customers, blocking doors or stairs, and affecting the safety of CTA, its employees, or customers. All photographers and videographers must fully and immediately comply with any requests, directions, or instructions of CTA personnel related to safety concerns.”

Well the vacuum cleaner could collect most garbage, e.g. free newspapers (as they are the number one garbage on many transit networks) to the end of the car. From there I guess it has to be collected partly manually.

About emissions in transit, I think that the main effect on emissions comes when car trips are reduced because transit is attractive. Often the cleanest cars pollute more than e.g. trams on coal power per passenger. So the transit sector should be focused on excellent quality and comfort, not so much on its own emissions. But of course it is a nice plus if energy for trams is green, too.
